FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: in passive mode, a station receives during one reception period in each time interval. In search mode, the station transmits during successive transmission periods in one time interval and then receives during one reception period in the next time interval and repeats the transmission/reception cycle. In an illustrative scene, station A operates in search mode and sends a series of transmissions during their transmission periods. Station B operates in passive mode, receives a transmission from station A during its reception period, switches to search mode and sends a series of transmissions during one time interval. Station A receives the transmission from station B during its reception period. After detecting each other, stations A and B may perform synchronisation.
EFFECT: efficient detection of other stations using an energy-saving method when a station can work in passive or search mode.
