FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of creating a virtual model of a biological object involves fixing the biological object using cementing material in a three-dimension figure to form a specimen and dividing it into multiple parallel layers in a given sequence, obtaining an image of each layer of the specimen in digital format, entering the obtained image of each layer into a digital image processing unit to obtain a three-dimensional virtual image of each layer, merging the obtained virtual images of the multiple layers into a sequence which is the reverse of the given sequence until a virtual model of the specimen is obtained and deleting the image of the cementing material to obtain a virtual model of the biological object. Before fixing, the biological object is instantly frozen at cryogenic temperatures. The biological object is fixed by freezing the cementing material and the specimen is divided into layers in closed space by successively cutting the selected plane of the specimen with a discrete step of not more than 50 mcm. The image of each layer in digital form is obtained from the surface of the specimen formed after each cutting step. The device for realising the method has a unit for mounting the biological object, a rotating mechanism with cutting elements in form of cutters designed to divide the specimen with the biological object into layers, and a cooling cabinet in which the unit for mounting the biological unit is mounted with possibility of linear displacement in the longitudinal direction and with possibility of discrete linear displacements in the cross direction. The device also has an apparatus for obtaining digital images of the specimen, a unit for processing digital images of the specimen, and a control unit connected to the rotation mechanism with cutting elements in form of cutters, a mechanism for linear displacement of the unit for mounting the biological object in the longitudinal direction, a mechanism for discrete linear displacement of the unit for mounting the biological object in the cross direction and apparatus for obtaining digital images of the specimen.

EFFECT: use of the invention increases reliability of three-dimensional reconstruction of a pathology-biological object by avoiding distortion of its structure and form.
