FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport and may be used in traction motor drives for railway vehicles, in particular, traction motor in diesel locomotive with two and more diesel generator plants. Proposed traction motor drive comprises DC series excitation traction motors connected to output of two controlled thyristor rectifiers connected in series. Resistor units are connected parallel to traction motor excitation windings via contactors. Note here that contactor control inputs and controlled thyristor rectifier control inputs are connected to relevant controller outputs. Diodes are connected to output of each thyristor rectified in reverse direction. Power inputs of controlled thyristor rectifiers are connected to separate three-phase variable voltage generators coupled mechanically with diesel engines. Diesel engine control inputs and three-phase generator excitation inputs are connected to relevant outputs of controller.
EFFECT: higher reliability and efficiency.
