FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to casting and is intended for producing rectangular-section castings with length-to-width ratio of 3-7. Metal mould is heated to preset temperature by heating two L-long walls made up of thermal tubes, protective coat is applied. Thermal tube makes a comb with heating and cooling zones and manifold. Metal is filled in metal mould. Thermal tube heated, heat carrier vapors are generated to come into cooling zone. With cooling zone cooled to t0=(0.3-0.5)tmet, where tmet is temperature of metal filled in metal mould, thermal tube subjected to forced cooling by gas heat carrier. Thermal tube is withdrawn from metal mould after overcooling of metal.
EFFECT: higher process efficiency and casting quality.
