FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to separation of materials that feature magnetic sensitivity and may be used in ore dressing and metallurgy as well as at sewage disposal plants. Proposed method comprises pulp feed into top section of volute vertical-axis flute, feeding washwater along all edges of flute inner side for pulp to flow downward by gravity in the form of swirled different-depth flow along flute section, generating magnetic intensity in dressed product separation zone, concentration of minerals and dressed product discharge. Adjusted and reversed rotation of volute flute about its vertical axis are used to control centrifugal forces in separation space and to size mineral products, separate them by density. Note that magnetic system to create magnetic intensity is arranged inside volute flute.
EFFECT: higher separation efficiency.
