SUBSTANCE: radiation detector 10 intended for positron-emission tomography (PET) scanner of time-of-flight incorporates radiation-sensitive element 20 to generate signal 22 to indicate radiation detection. Transducer 34 of time intervals in code comprises digital delay elements 40 interconnected to make circular generator 36, 36', and readout circuits 50, 52, 60, 82, 84, 86 and 88 configured to generate time mark for radiation detection event proceeding from at least circular generator state in signal generation. Delay adjustment elements 46 connected with digital delay elements set, in fact, common delay for the latter. Additionally or alternatively, digital delay elements 40 comprises readout buffers with transition time greater than delay of digital delay elements. ADCs 82, 84 digitise delay element magnitudes, while decoding circuits 86, 88 compute state of circular generator 36' proceeding from digitised values.
EFFECT: time marks with nanosecond resolution.
