FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method of optical radiation generation includes development of gas discharge in atmosphere of inert gas with a radiating molecular additive in a cylinder from optically transparent material. The gas discharge in a source of optical radiation is developed with the help of pulse-periodic voltage, amplitude of which in a pulse is selected as more than amplitude of voltage in DC discharge in the source of optical radiation. The frequency of voltage pulses repetition is selected in the range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz, the duty factor of voltage pulses is selected in the range of more than 1.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of optical radiation generation and reduced costs for recycling of these failed sources of optical radiation, which in general provides significant saving during operation in the industry and in the household.
