FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: fuel combustion monitoring and control method in piston-type engine involves recording of high-voltage signal from electrodes of ignition plug, moment of occurrence, existence and loss of signals of ion current on an individual electrode of ionisation sensor and calculation of propagation speed in the main and final combustion stages. Intensity of reaction rate is determined by comparing the value of ion current at engine operation on fuel-air mixture of any composition with value of ion current at operation on stoichiometric composition of fuel-air mixture. Fuel combustion monitoring and control device in piston engine has set of ionisation sensors, at least eight electrodes which are isolated from parts of housing of engines and located in circumferential direction at the distance diametrically opposite to each other in the part that also serves as a gasket between head of cylinder and housing of engine. Thus, use of the invention allows increasing the engine operating efficiency.
EFFECT: increase in engine operating characteristics is the effect of the invention.
