FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine. A device for treating an intervertebral disc comprises an elongated U-shaped shunt and a needle with a hollow channel passing from its distal end. The specified distal end has a size and a configuration to be inserted in the intervertebral disc and enclose the specified elongated shunt. A method of shunt implantation for treating the intervertebral disc involves the stages whereat: (a) the needle and the U-shaped shunt is enabled to penetrate into the disc; (b) the needle is drawn out thereby leaving the U-shaped shunt being located partially inside the intervertebral disc.
EFFECT: inventions provide back pain relief by intensified biosynthesis of hydrophilic sulphated glycosamines, and therefore increase of pressure inside the disc, and by reduced lactic acid formation and removal.
