FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: microwave generator based on a virtual cathode is designed to generate electromagnet radiation in various ranges of wavelengths and may be used in locating, in the field of high-frequency communication, in science, in household appliances. It consists of an external power supply source (1) and a vacuumised system, comprising a casing made as a hollow cylinder (3) or of a different shape, closed with end covers (4), on one of which there is a cathode (6). Parallel to its emitting surface there is an anode grid (9) fixed with the help of an anode holder (10) with a gap relative to it, and positive voltage is applied to this grid during operation of the generator from the external power supply source (1), as a result, an electronic beam is developed. Radiation is released from the vacuum system via a communication window (2). In front of the anode grid (9) there is a capacitor insulator (7) installed, which contacts with its external side to the inner surface of the casing, and with its internal side - to a capacitor lining (8), which is electrically connected to the anode grid (9), at the same time the casing serves as another capacitor lining.
EFFECT: increased efficiency factor of the generator due to multiple reduction of its working inductance.
