FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved fluorination method, in which the organic compound to be fluorinated is brought into contact with a stream of elementary fluorine to form HF or another hydrogen-containing compound as a by-product, where streams of initial reagents are fed into the reaction zone of a fluorination reactor which is filled with a fluoride-adsorbing composition which is in stoichiometric excess with respect to the mole quantity of the fluorinated organic compound and elementary fluorine. The invention also relates to a fluorination reactor for realising the fluorination method, having a reaction zone, an inlet for feeding the organic compound to be fluorinated into said reaction zone, an inlet for feeding elementary fluorine into said reaction zone and an outlet for removing the fluorinated reaction product, wherein the reaction zone is filled with a fluoride-adsorbing composition for adsorption of HF, which is formed as a by-product of the reaction between the organic compound and elementary fluorine. As a result, the amount of HF or another hydrogen-containing by-product is reduced or said by-product is not formed at all.
