FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemistry of adamantane derivatives, specifically to a method of producing 1,3-di(R-thio)adamantanes of general formula:

The method involves binding disulphides to 1,3-dehydroadamantane, said disulphides being selected from: diphenyl disulphide, n,n'-bis-(4-bromophenyl)disulphide, 2,2'-dibenzthiazolyl disulphide, n,n'-bis-(4-aminophenyl)disulphide with molar ratio of reactants equal to 1:1.1, in the medium of an inert solvent, e.g., diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran or methylene chloride, in the presence of catalytic amounts of sodium hydroxide at temperature 35-65°C for 2-3 hours.
EFFECT: novel single-step method of producing 1,3-di(R-thio)adamantanes, which enables to obtain disclosed compounds with high output.
