FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for continuous casting of steel bars and blooms. The method provides at least first and second mixing devices designed to create the first and second magnetic fields rotating at different frequencies relative to the axis passing through the solidifying molten metal. The mixing devices are located around the molten metal quite sufficiently close to each other, so that their respective magnetic fields are applied to produce a modulated magnetic field. Direction of rotation of the magnetic fields of the relevant mixing devices can either match or be at variance. Modulated mixing leads to turbulence in the bulk of the melt in the region where the melt temperature is less than the liquidus temperature and where at least 10% of the hardened material is formed.
EFFECT: as a result of the flow turbulence formation of crystalline structures in the bulk melt breaks down, stirring of the melt with a high content of liquid phase, which is located in the central region of the main volume, which leads to improvement of the structure and quality of cast products.
