METHOD FOR HUMAN LIMB IMMOBILISATION AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTING IT Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61F13/04 A61F5/01

Abstract RU 2454212 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely human limb immobilisation tools, e.g. in treating bone fractures, joint injuries, human limb deformations and is applicable in treating animals. The method for human limb immobilisation consists in the fact that a treated patient's limb is covered with a liner and then with plate-like jointed plates (1, 3), tightly attached to each other by means of union latches (4-8). The plate-like jointed plates are symmetrically wrapped to the treated patient's limb with using closed bandage rings (11). A powdered fast-curing substance (10) is rubbed in between the bandage rings (11) in skin areas free from the union latches. After a layer of the immobilising bandage sufficient for treated patient's limb immobilisation is applied, the powdered fast-curing substance is set solid. The immobilising bandage is kept to set solid completely. The bandage (11) is cut away within an operating area of the union latches (4-8) of all plate-like joints. If the immobilising bandage is appeared to be loosened, the patient's limbs are temporarily unloaded section by section by means of releasing the union latches (4-8) and separating the plate-like jointed plates. The immobilising bandage is additionally compacted where loosened. The patient's body is disinfected that is followed by attaching the fragments of the immobilising bandage again. The plate-like jointed plates are fixed with respect to each other that is ensured by locking the union latches. An apparatus comprises a bandage (11) with a powder (10) and plate-like joints (1-3) tightly fixing the fragments of the immobilising bandage with respect to each, wherein they are rigidly integrated (9).

EFFECT: enabled additional compaction of the immobilising bandage during periodic unload section by section from the last patient's limb.
