SUBSTANCE: described is a method of slowing down inflammation of styrene resins and foamed styrene resins, involving addition of an effective amount of at least one antipyrene compound containing both an aliphatic and aromatic bromine atom selected from a group comprising: and In the structures given above, types are not strictly defined but the approximate numbers must be m=1 and n=1, and Br2 denotes two bromine atoms each bonded at separate points of the phenyl ring, and Br3, Brx and Bry denote 3 bromine atoms, x bromine atoms and y bromine atoms, respectively, where x and y independently assume whole numbers from 1 to 3. Also described is an industrial article containing a styrene resin composition or a foamed styrene resin composition, where said composition contains an effective amount of at least one antipyrene compound given above.
EFFECT: antipyrene compounds having high efficiency and the required thermal stability.
