FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention aims at detecting mRNA expression of the p16(INK4a) gene in cervical tissue samples. A diagnostic technique for cervical intraepithelial neoplasms on the basis of detecting p16 gene mRNA in the cervical scraping material with the use of quantitative PCR involves sampling the examined cervical material, analysing p16 mRNA expression as a potential progression marker of cervical dysplastic processes, as well as analysing the mRNA concentration of hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT-1) gene. It is combined with evaluating the level of relative mRNA expression of the p16 gene to the level of mRNA expression of HPRT-1. The relation of the level of mRNA expression of the p16 gene to mRNA expression of HPRT-1 more than 93 relative units corresponds with squamous cell carcinoma.

EFFECT: technique enables higher effectiveness of diagnosing premalignant cervical processes.
