FIELD: physics, communications.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a ferrule for branching and/or connecting a telecommunication cable, used for a subscriber network where an optical cable is connected to the subscriber. The device has a base whose ends are fitted with a holding means for holding the cable. The ferrule also has a removable plate for forming an allowance for the length of optical modules relative the axis of the cable and facilitating displacement of these optical modules from the axis of the cable. Access to the optical modules is provided through a window formed on the cable having length ranging from several centimetres to tens of centimetres. The plate is adapted for positioning on the base with removal from the bottom of the base by a distance which enables the cable sheath to pass between the plate and the bottom of the base, and has an upper side for receiving optical modules.

EFFECT: easier access to optical modules when the cable is stretched without the need to fold passing modules into a ring.
