FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in setting a value of tamping pick deepening, based on vertical dimensions of a rail and a sleeper, and track straightening by means of machine stopping over a sleeper, track raising, deepening of tamping picks into a ballast, movement of tamping picks to a sleeper, raising of tamping picks into an initial position with their opening and displacement to the next sleeper. Deepening of tamping picks into a ballast is carried out at the value different for each point of the track from a previously specified value. The difference value is directly proportional to the value of track raising and distance from the axis of the rear trolley of the machine to the centre of the tamping unit and is inversely proportional to the distance from the axis of the rear trolley to the axis of the support roller of the middle trolley of the measurement device. The difference value is determined by the value of track raising relative to the machine frame in the point of axis of the support roller of the middle trolley of the measurement device. The machine for realisation of the method comprises a frame on carriages, three measurement trolleys, between extreme of which there is a thread, position of the ends of which complies with the position of support rollers of trolleys. The middle measurement trolley is equipped with a sensor interacting with the specified thread. The machine is equipped with a tamping unit moving along vertical guides from a drive equipped with a sensor of tamping unit position relative to the machine frame. The middle measurement trolley is equipped with a sensor of its position relative to the machine frame.

EFFECT: higher quality of a track by provision of stable compaction of a ballast due to stable arrangement of tamping picks submerged into a ballast relative to sleepers.
