FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spin-stabilized artillery shells. Proposed shell comprises steel body, explosive charge, steering band made integral with said body and composed of alternating annular grooves and ledges to be strained in fire by barrel bore to make steering ledges and circular cavities filled with powder gases separated at grooves filled materials forced into groove working part from working parts of ledges. Circular channel is made between materials forced into groove to allow unobstructed feed of powder gases from circular cavity bottom to barrel bore fields. Pitch of ledges makes at least 0.05 of caliber while ratio between areas of groove working part lengthwise sections and previous ledge makes at least 1.25. Circular clearance is provided between barrel bore and steering band to allow unobstructed access of powder gases from free space behind the shell to steering band grooves. Steering band is located ahead of body bottom while body wall thickness at band center does not exceed 0.15 of shell caliber.
EFFECT: decreased pressure in free space behind shell.
