FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: solid-state imaging device has multiple pixels, each having a photoelectric conversion element, a light-shielding layer which covers the photoelectric conversion element. The light-shielding layer has a first light-shielding area which covers at least part of the region between neighbouring photoelectric conversion elements, and a second light-shielding area for partial shielding of light incident on the photoelectric conversion element of each of the multiple pixels. An opening is provided for the light-shielding layer, the remaining component of the incident light passing through said opening. The shape of the opening has a cross-shaped area which includes an area which continues in a first direction and an area which continues in a second direction which crosses the first direction.
EFFECT: reduced noise of the solid-state imaging device.
