FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry. Disclosed is an isolated polynucleotide for inhibiting expression of one or more target genes of the coleopterous parasite Diabrotica spp., selected from a group consisting of a polynucleotide which includes a nucleic acid sequence with SEQ ID NO:179, 818, 822-824, at least 21 fragments of an adjoining nucleotide from the nucleic acid sequence with SEQ ID NO:179, 818, 822-824, as well as polynucleotides which are at least 95% identical to said nucleic acid sequences. Also provided are a vector and a cell which contain said isolated polynucleotide. Disclosed is a plant and family thereof, containing said isolated polynucleotide. A method is provided for controlling coleopterous pests Diabrotica spp. using said isolated polynucleotide. Also disclosed is a method of improving yield of a crop which is infested by coleopterous pests Diabrotica spp., as well as a method of reducing loss of drought resistance due to the infesting by coleopterous pests Diabrotica spp. of yield obtained from a crop infested by pests when said isolated polynucleotide is administered to the crop.
EFFECT: invention enables to create plants which are resistant to coleopterous parasites Diabrotica spp.
