FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an isolated polynucleotide to control a Western corn beetle (WCR), a vector, a cell, a plant, a plant seed containing it, and a method for reduction of the WCR pest population using it. A molecule of dsRNA for WCR controlling is also disclosed, as well as a method for reduction of the WCR pest population using it. The invention also relates to a method for increase of the yield of maize infected by WCR, a method for production of a transgenic plant cell and a plant resistant to WCR using the above polynucleotide.
EFFECT: invention allows to effectively combat the Western corn beetle.
