FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology. Described is an interfering ribonucleic acid (RNA) which functions upon absorption by an insect pest species with down-regulating a target gene in said insect pest, wherein the RNA comprises at least one silencing element, which is a double-stranded RNA segment comprising connected complementary chains, one of which contains or consists of a nucleotide sequence, which is complementary to the target nucleotide sequence within the target gene, and wherein target gene (i) is selected from the group of genes having a nucleotide sequence comprising SEQ ID NO 122, 131, 144, 145, 178, 179 or a complementary sequence to it, or having such a nucleotide sequence that, with optimal alignment and comparison of the two sequences, is at least 85 % identical to SEQ ID NO 122, 131, 144, 145, 178, 179 or its complementary sequence, or (ii) in a pest insect it is an ortholog of the gene having a nucleotide sequence comprising SEQ ID NO 122, 131, 144, 145, 178, 179 or its complementary sequence, wherein two orthologous genes are similar in sequence to the extent, that with optimal alignment and comparison of the two genes, the ortholog has a sequence that is at least 85 % identical to the sequence represented in SEQ ID NO 122, 131, 144, 145, 178, 179, or (iii) is selected from the group of genes having a nucleotide sequence encoding an amino acid sequence, which, with optimal alignment and comparison of the two amino acid sequences, is at least 85 % identical to the amino acid sequence encoded by SEQ ID NO 122, 131, 144, 145, 178, 179. Invention expands the arsenal of genetic control tools for attacking pest species, in particular preventing and/or combating pest attack on plants using an interfering ribonucleic acid molecule (RNA).

EFFECT: compositions and combinations containing interfering RNA molecules of the present invention can be used in the form of insecticides.
