FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of emitting transverse seismic waves, which involves generating a dipole effect in the ground for exciting transverse seismic waves using a group of pulsed non-explosive controlled sources spaced apart on the earth's surface. The beginning of emission of each of the sources is shifted in time by a value determined from the delay in signal (wave) propagation from each source to the excitation point. Simultaneously, the propagation speed of the transverse wave is determined from the time of arrival of the reflected wave from each radiation source to the seismic receiver. The wave generation point is shifted sideways relative the centre line of the position of the sources. Excitation of sources in a group is carried out successively in two cycles. In the first excitation cycle, a wave of one direction is generated and a transverse wave of the opposite direction is generated with delay.
EFFECT: high information content of probing pulses during multi-wave seismic survey.
