FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: tool for finishing treatment of cylindrical gear wheels is cylindrical gear wheel, its side surfaces of perimeter teeth have cutting edges made when side surfaces of the perimeter teeth cross surfaces of chip groove with trapezoidal profile shifted in axial direction relatively each other. Side lines outlining contour of each chip groove in the plane development of the initial tool circle are the lengths of normals limited by circular arcs determining shape of convex and concave sides of the perimeter teeth of the tool and made to the secondary circle via equispaced points from the projection cross-point of single- or multiple-thread helical curve. Axis of the helical curve coincides with axis of rotation of the tool on plane of dev elopement of initial cylinder of the tool and secondary circle. Radius of the secondary circle is determined as difference of radiuses of circles determining shape of convex and concave sides of the perimeter teeth of the tool added to radius of minimum circle or subtracted from radius of maximum circle.
EFFECT: improved accuracy and quality of treatment due to significant reduction of variation range of front angles of the tool cutting wedges along length of the its teeth contact with teeth of treated wheel billet.
