FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method comprises pouring metal into casting mould, supporting and drawing ingot 1 by drive rolls and idlers 3 arranged along continuous casting line. Drive rolls 7 mounted with opening over ingot rated thickness to run in direction opposite that of ingot drawing and to loosen scale formed at ingot surface. Top roll 7 runs clockwise while bottom toll 7 runs counter clockwise. Gas-fluid mix is forced at angle into scale loosening zone while scale is removed by gas fed along contact surfaces of ingot an rolls on the side said ingot enters said rolls. Ingot side surfaces are cleaned of scale by two rolls arranged across continuous casting line. In compliance with another version, ingot surface is cleaned of scale by two extra support idlers coupled with drive rolls.
EFFECT: higher surface quality.
