FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing ceramic materials for high-temperature structural articles, such as components of a combustion chamber and a nozzle assembly of a gas-turbine engine. The method of making a ceramic article based on mullite, which contains 5-20 wt % zirconium oxide, involves preparing ceramic powder by co-deposition of solutions of hydrolysed tetraethoxysilane, aluminium chloride and zirconium oxide sol, followed by heat treatment and crushing, moulding and sintering. Sintering is carried out at temperature of 1670-1750°C while heating at a rate of 412.4-432.5°C/h, and the article is held at firing temperature until the end of the shrinking process.
EFFECT: obtaining ceramic material, having low density, heat conductivity and high heat resistance, which increases thermal effectiveness and the service life of combustion chambers of gas-turbine engines.
