FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves preparation of a starting solution with a mediator system, which simultaneously contains an oxidised form and a reduced form of the reagent and estimating oxidant/antioxidant activity based on electrochemical parameters of the extract of the analysed substance which is added to the starting solution, and is characterised by that the starting solution is divided into two volumes linked to each to other through a semi-permeable membrane, and the extract of the analysed substance is added to one of the volumes of the starting solution, wherein the electrochemical parameter for estimating oxidant/antioxidant activity is the steady-state value of electromotive force in the measurement system. The invention also relates to an apparatus for implementing the method.
