SUBSTANCE: device comprises two sensitive elements in the form of infrared photodetectors connected to inputs of appropriate threshold elements, a unit of setting into the initial state, two triggers, two indication units connected to direct outputs of according triggers made in the form of open outputs of H-type. C-inputs of triggers are connected to outputs of appropriate threshold elements, R-inputs - with the output of the unit of setting into the initial state, inverse outputs - with D-inputs of accordingly the second and first triggers. The range of action of the sensitivity area of one sensitive element along the axis of symmetry of its optical window exceeds the range of action of the sensitivity area of another sensitive element, which provides for availability of near and far sensitivity areas in the device. When first and second outputs of the device are connected to each other, it transforms into a position control sensor during their radial and axial movements of the item relative to the sensitive element of the device. If the item is located in the far zone, the device is transformed into the sensor of position control with usage of only one output.
