FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves burning a diesel fuel composition in an engine, the fuel composition containing a performance-enhancing additive. The additive is a product of a Mannich reaction, which is carried out with participation of: (a) formaldehyde, (b) polyamine and (c) phenol, having one or more optionally substituted alkyl substitutes. The average molecular weight of the only or each substitute of component (c) is less than 300, and pressure in the engine exceeds 1350 bar or 1.35×108 Pa.
EFFECT: method improves diesel engine performance, reduces engine power loss and reduces deposits on engine injectors.
