FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: in a method for removing toxic substances from exhaust gases of an automobile and a device for its implementation, which involves direction of an exhaust gas flow from an outlet header of an internal combustion engine to a neutraliser of the engine exhaust system, the exhaust gas flow is supplied from the exhaust system of ICE to an additionally installed cold start-up trap after it passes the first neutraliser, in which as an absorber of toxic components there arranged is a powder-like adsorbent of zeolite type, which represents transformed zeolite of ZSM-5 or BETA-38 type, into which one of alkali metals - K, Na or Li is introduced at the following ratio, wt %: either sodium - 2.0-3.5, or K - 3-5, or Li - 4.5-5.5; zeolite ZSM-5 or BETA-38 is the rest, and then, it is supplied through an individual main line to the second neutraliser; after that, exhaust gas flow is supplied to a resonator and a damper, which are located in exhaust gas flow direction.
EFFECT: providing high cleaning degree of exhaust gases of an automobile and stability of operating characteristics under cold start-up conditions of an ICE at continuous cyclic hydrothermal action, as well as providing long-term retention of hydrocarbons at temperature increase till warm-up of a catalytic neutraliser.
