SUBSTANCE: transmission rate control method for controlling rate of transmission of user data by a mobile station over an uplink includes steps of: sending in the radio network controller a report on the maximum available user data transmission rate to the mobile station when said mobile station begins transmission or when the cell from which said mobile station should be connected changes; and automatically increasing at the mobile station the user data transmission rate to the maximum available transmission rate reported by the radio network controller.
EFFECT: enabling fast initiation of increase in uplink user data transmission rate even if the mobile station has just connected to a specific cell.
