FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to obtaining compositions of dehydrated silicates of alkali metals for production of swelling layers of fireproof glazing. Claimed is method of obtaining compositions of dehydrated silicates of alkali metals, containing SiO2/M2O in molar ratio in the interval between 3 and 7, in which they are transformed into solid gel without drying, from stable and liquid solution by dehydration, which reduces water content by weight on 14% maximum, carried out at temperature not more than 60°C at pressure from 1 to 100 hPa. In final composition content of water is in the interval between 35% and 43%.
EFFECT: formation of solid gel by claimed method takes place faster than solidification of final composition mass, obtained by known method, which makes it possible to reduce cost of production without reducing product quality.
