FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an organic light-emitting diode (LED) with resistance to lateral bending. The method of producing a patterned organic LED includes steps of providing a substrate, placing a set of layers on the substrate, wherein the set of layers comprises at least an organic light-emitting layer situated between a cathode layer and an anode layer, and irradiating selected parts of the organic light-emitting layer with light having a wavelength lying in the absorption band of the organic light-emitting layer to provide locally reduced light-emitting properties forming the structure. The method further includes a step of providing a layer which reduces lateral bending, said layer being connected to the cathode layer on the side of the cathode layer facing the side opposite the organic light-emitting layer, and is capable of increasing resistance to lateral bending arising from local heating of the cathode layer.
EFFECT: improved mechanical properties, for example rigidness and/or thermal properties, for example heat conductivity and heat capacity, of the cathode layer.
