FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of service life of water treatment devices. In compliance with first version, cartridge weight is used as a cartridge serviceability indicator. After fitting of new cartridge in independent device for treatment of water fed by gravity, cartridge weight P1 is measured after feeding preset water amount of mean quality specified in instructions. Then, in case cartridge weight is larger than P1, cartridge life is considered expired. In compliance with second version, cartridge serviceability indicator represents the time T1 during which preset amount of water flow there through after fitting the new cartridge. In case said time is smaller than T1, cartridge life is valid, if it its larger than T1, cartridge life is considered expired.
EFFECT: simplified design, higher accuracy.
