FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of iron-based articles suitable for cutting. Powder composition comprises iron-based powder and additive improving machinability including at least one silicate of the set of clay minerals. Besides, at least one silicate can be selected from the group of various micas, note here that said additive improving machinability is contained in amount smaller than 0.5 wt %. Sintered part is produced by compaction of said iron-based powder composition at 400-1200 MPa and sintering at 1000-1300°C.
EFFECT: better machinability of parts.
