FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves examining the tumour liver biopsy material by immunohistochemistry and detecting if any lymphocytic infiltration is observed in the liver metastasis stroma in three visual fields of a microscope and measuring an area thereof. The visual fields are specified by the maximum immunohistochemical reaction of each section of the liver biopsy material; the presence of lymphocytic infiltration and the area thereof is used to predict the overall survival. The presence of lymphocytic infiltration and the area thereof of 50% and more of the tumour stroma in each of the three visual fields, the patient is referred to a group with a favourable prognosis (the three or more years survival after hepatic resection); the absence of the lymphocytic infiltration or its area making less than 10% of the tumour stroma in each of the three visual fields, the patient is referred to a group of the unfavourable prognosis (the survival of less than two years).

EFFECT: using the method provides the more accurate prediction of the overall survival following hepatic resection for the metastatic colorectal cancer and makes it possible to predict the patient's total survival.
