FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed process comprises continuous casting by means of one machine to get tetrahedral or equivalent cross-section ingot. Then, ingot cross-section is reduced at rolling mill that defines the rolling axis aligned with casting axis. Ingot segments are selectively accumulated inside chamber furnace and held therein at definite temperature as-shifted relative to casting and/or rolling axis during temporary interruption of ingot reduction.
EFFECT: minimised outages of the mill, hence lower production losses.
