FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: gear wheel consists of a body and a geared rim with teeth. At the sections of tooth tips, width of their side surfaces is variable and depends on the multiplicity of engagement pairing. The dependence is inverse. The change of side surface width alters from maximal value at engagement poles to minimal value at teeth tips monotonically. The surfaces of teeth end faces adjoining the side surface sections with variable width are planes.
EFFECT: optimised design of a gear wheel, lower costs of its manufacturing.
