SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used in tooth gears. Gear wheel includes body, gear rim with teeth and a pair of ring pads fixed on the teeth ends and sections of the ends of the body adjacent to the rim. Teeth are made symmetrical, forming U-shape in their main cross section. Width of the heads of teeth is made stepped vary and inversely proportional to independent of engagement pairing. Boundary change of width heads is shifted towards the tops of teeth on half the value of axial clearance transmission.

EFFECT: result is higher strength of the gear teeth.
