SUBSTANCE: method of predicting milking capacity of Holstein first-calf heifers of different lines comprises the selection of the first-calf heifers by determining the productivity index. At that the average amount of milking of a line of the first-calf heifers for 1 lactation and their average body weight during this period is determined, and the index is used as the milking coefficient which is defined by formula: $$MC=\frac{Y}{LW}\times 100;$$ where Y is the milk yield for 1 lactation (kg); LW is an average live weight (kg), in case the milking coefficient is 600 and less the line of the first-calf heifers is referred to low-productive, if the coefficient is 600-1000 - to productive, and if the coefficient is more than 1,000 - to highly productive ones.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of prediction.
