FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machining of low-stiffness axially symmetric shaft-type billets. To up the quality of billet, it is subjected to force effects beyond the work of elasticity law with the limits of selected billet section. Elastic limit at force effects is controlled by adjustment of heat effects brought to billet section. Billet is strained by bending. Bending is conducted in alternating manner. Simultaneously with bending, said billet is spun and axially fed. Note here that bending moment may not be applied from the distance over five diameters of the billet from the bending point with locking of processed section in crosswise direction. Device for implementation of said process comprises heater and support rollers, axial feed and rotation drives arranged in series and dual drive rollers. Billet turn and crosswise shift mechanism is composed of a table coupled with billet crosswise shift drive. Said table is coupled with clutch turn drive and tube rigidly fixed therein to lock the billet therein. Note here that heater is arranged between drive rollers. Said guide tube is installed at the distance from billet bending point on the side of drive rollers not exceeding five diameters of the billet.
