FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: method and device provide for removal of ice crusts and icicles by their being crushed into a small fraction with its further dispersion and deposition under action of gravity forces on the ground. Separation of icicles and ice crusts from a drip cap is performed simultaneously with their crushing. The device is moved along the drip cap and includes a breaking-down mechanism and a crushing machine that is enclosed in a housing with a perforated bottom and an end wall. The crushing machine can be made in the form of one or two parallel screws, on the turns of which cutting teeth are arranged, and the first turn is made in the form of a flat washer with end location of cutting knives on it.
EFFECT: improved operating reliability of a roof.
