FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to electric engineering and may be used for the conversion of alternating-current power of a commercial frequency into a user-defined power. A power conversion device (3) converts the power of a multiphase alternating current directly into the alternating-current power. The conversion circuit has a multitude of the first switching elements (311, 313 and 315) and a multitude of the second switching elements (312, 314 and 316), which are connected to phases (R, S, T) of the multiphase alternating current and may switchover current passage between two directions. The power conversion device is also equipped with input lines (R, S, T) connected to input terminals of the switching elements; and output lines (P, N) connected to output terminals of the switching elements. The output terminals of the first switching elements are placed at the same line as well as the output terminals of the second switching elements. The line formed by the output terminals of the first switching elements is also parallel to the line formed by the output terminals of the second switching elements. The above vertical lines are placed vertically lower than the above input lines.

EFFECT: reduced distance of the wiring between the protective circuit and the switching element.
