FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: spirometry is performed for people with arterial hypertension. Indices of forced exhalation volume for first second FEV1, forced vital capacity of lungs (FVC) and ratio of said two indices FEV1/FVC are determined. If FEV1 values are 85-80% and FEV1/FVC is 75-70%, risk of development or early stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is predicted.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to efficiently predict risk of development or early stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the background of arterial hypertension, carry out timely treatment due to carrying out spirometry in people with arterial hypertension and assessment of optimal indices.
