FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method includes measuring thermally-stimulated depolarisation currents; performing temperature-control of a sample at a temperature not higher than the melting point; applying an electric field to the sample which does not exceed the breakdown field; and performing polarisation during a period of time greater than the relaxation time at said temperature; without turning off the electric field, cooling to liquid nitrogen temperature and then turning off the field; performing linear heating of the sample to a temperature higher than polarisation temperature and analysing the obtained spectra of thermally-stimulated depolarisation currents recorded along and perpendicular to the optical axis of the sixth order C6 of the crystal. Presence of anisotropy is determined via comparison thereof and the exact direction of optical axes is determined from the value of the maximum values of the thermally-stimulated depolarisation currents.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of determining anisotropy and optical axes of crystals.
