SUBSTANCE: invention relates to purification of internal combustion engine exhaust gases. On-board diagnostics system for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a catalysed substrate having a catalysed region and an uncatalysed region, a first sensor; and a second sensor. First sensor is located within the catalysed region of the catalysed substrate and the second sensor is located within the uncatalysed region of the catalysed substrate. Volume of the catalysed region of the substrate is less than 25 % of the total volume. Method for on-board diagnostics of a catalysed substrate is also described.

EFFECT: on-board diagnostics system for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine is described.
