FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diets for the final period of fattening animals bred for meat production. The method of increasing the amount of meat of animal fed with silage comprises adding to the diet in the final fattening period of silage in the amount more than 15% of the diet of the animal on dry matter and feeding the animal with the said diet during the final fattening period. The said silage is obtained from corn plant of variety with brown medium rib (BMR variety), having a low lignin content. This diet for the final fattening period contains no grain corn. When feeding animals the ratio of weight gain:feed (G:F) of the fattened animal is increased as compared with a ratio of G:F of an animal of the same species, which is fed with an equivalent amount of silage of corn plants having a lignin content as in the wild type. The animals may be selected from cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, goats, bison, yaks, buffalos and deer. The diet for the final period of fattening beef cattle comprises silage in an amount of more than 15% of the animal diet on dry matter, and the said silage is obtained from corn plant of variety with brown medium rib (BMR variety), having a lower content of lignin, and the diet for the final period of fattening beef cattle contains no grain corn.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of using feed and increased productivity of animals is provided.
