A multimedia streaming method, comprising steps of: generating at least one index segment, wherein at least one index segment comprises index information of at least one multimedia segment and at least one index segment is independent of at least one multimedia segment; generating information on storage place corresponding to at least one index segment in accordance with the rule of generating information on storage place corresponding to at least one index segment; and storing at least one index segment at the storage place corresponding to the information on storage place, such that a client obtains one index segment from the storage place.
EFFECT: reduced transmission of unnecessary data.
