SUBSTANCE: claimed process consists in the following. Low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation flow rate and that of uncooled high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation are adjusted under stationary conditions within the first limits to maintain the target level of dilution in the intake manifold. Said limits include the bottom and top levels of said low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation flow rate and that of uncooled high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation. Under transient conditions, low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation flow rate and that of uncooled high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation are adjusted conditions within the second limits to maintain the target level of dilution in the intake manifold that differ from said first one set for stationary conditions.
EFFECT: reduced harmful emissions, ruled out compressor stalling and surging.
